A Trip to Sapporo

Last week I went to Sapporo for four days. I stayed with an old friend at his house. It was my first time to visit Hokkaido. Even though my friend said that there was not much snow in Hokkaido this year, there was much more snow than I had ever seen before!

We went to the Sapporo Snow Festival and saw many snow sculptures. They were very impressive. On the Saturday, we went to the Sapporo Art Park. Because it was winter, we borrowed some snow shoes and walked around the park in very deep snow. There were many sculptures made by artists from all around the world. I was surprised to see a sculpture by the British artist, Anthony Gormley.

We ate lots of delicious food in Sapporo. I really enjoyed eating soup curry and miso ramen.

Have you ever been to Hokkaido? Where should I go next?

私の友達は、今年は雪海道に雪があまり降らなかったと言ったけれど、実際は、私がこれまでにみたことないくらいのたくさんの雪があった。
